About

This site is brought to you by the North Sydney Business Improvement & Development Association (BIDA).  Our not-for-profit organization was first established in 1996 and is presently run by volunteer business owners and community members.

Our mission is to improve, preserve, and promote downtown North Sydney as a viable business,  cultural and social center; to serve as a liaison with government offices and other business; and to to enhance and stabilize the economic vitality of the area through long-term improvement projects and ongoing promotional activities.

What is a BID?

A Business Improvement District (BID) is a defined area around a street or section of town where landowners pay an additional fee towards BIDs to fund projects within the boundaries of the BID. These funds are exclusively used for improving, expanding or maintaining projects with the objective of supporting the organization's mandate.

Our mission

Our primary mandate is to develop, support and promote commercial and retail activity within the downtown core through funding initiatives and grassroots beautification, improvement projects, event coordination and communication.

A secondary objective is to build and support social interaction and cultural pride.  We believe these to be necessary components of a successful and thriving downtown.
